Tips for Creating High Protein Smoothies that Taste Great

Smoothies provide you with endless benefits. Not only are they quick and convenient to make, but filling, nutritious and incredibly versatile. They’re also the perfect choice if you’re a breakfast-skipper. Blending together a whole banana, handful of berries, cup of coconut milk and your favourite protein powder truly sets your day up for the best possible start. And if you’re in a hurry, don’t worry! You can easily make smoothies in advance and keep them cool in the fridge for whenever hunger hits. Smoothies are also fantastic to enjoy after a hard workout and, if you’ve incorporated the right ingredients, can help repair muscles and speed up metabolism, giving you a better workout result.

To make great tasting high protein smoothies, all you need is a decent blender and storage container. You should also stay well-stocked on smoothie essentials which might include Greek yogurt, milk, fruit, green veggies, oats and seeds.

Top Tip: Try freezing some of your ingredients before you use them to give your smoothie a chilled finish.

At Luxe Fitness, we think smoothies are a critical component in weight loss and health maintenance. For that reason, we’ve put together three top tips on creating delicious high protein smoothies that will compliment your weight loss success.

  1. Experiment with milk sources

Even if you’re dedicated to dairy, there’s no reason you can’t move away from your comfort zone and experiment with non-dairy milk sources the next time you make yourself a high protein smoothie. Almond milk, for example, is exceptionally nutritious and delicious, giving your high protein smoothies a velvety taste not found in regular cows milk. Other options include hemp milk, soy milk, coconut milk and hazelnut milk. Follow the recipe for our berry smoothie and experiment with different milk sources for varied high protein results.

  1. Don’t be afraid to add veggies

If you’re creating your own high protein smoothie from scratch, don’t feel restricted to using only fruits. Many veggies are high in protein and can compliment a sweet tasting smoothie. Spinach or kale, for example, may not taste nice in a smoothie on its own, but when combined with frozen berries, a banana, Greek yogurt, almond milk and your favourite Luxe protein powder, you’ll barely notice it’s in there! Avocado also gives smoothies extra richness and texture while boosting protein content.

  1. Experiment with protein powders

At Luxe Fitness, one of the reasons we offer you so many delicious flavours is because we value creativity and love the variety that protein powders can bring. If you’re in the mood for something traditional and versatile, you can add vanilla powder to pretty much any smoothie and give it a dose of sweetness. Or, if you’re creating a beautifully fruity masterpiece, you could add watermelon sorbet flavoured pre-workout powder. Other flavours available across the range include lemon and lime, strawberry shortcake and salted caramel, all of which can add a delicious new dimension to your high protein smoothie.
